Actor Robert De Niro has reportedly been injured whilst on location for Apple TV+ film Killers of the Flower Moon, also starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scorsese.
Robert De Niro is headed home after suffering an injury while working on Martin Scorsese’s highly-anticipated upcoming project with Leo DiCaprio.
Production sources as well as sources connected to De Niro tell us the actor hurt his leg during filming of “Killers of the Flower Moon” in Oklahoma. He boarded a flight late Thursday for his home in New York City and plans to see a doctor Friday. The extent of the injury is unclear.
A later update to the story confirmed that De Niro suffered the injury “while he was in town for the shoot”, but not whilst he was on set. According to the report, sources say that the film is moving ahead as scheduled and that De Niro had already shot the scenes required at this juncture. The report says it is unclear as to the extent of the injury, or if there would be any impact on production further down the line.
Apple shared its first look at the upcoming film, sharing images of DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone sharing a meal during a scene. The film, set in 1920s Oklahoma, follows the murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation and is based on David Grann’s book by the same name. Production is expected to end this year or early in 2022, and is Scorsese’s most expensive film ever with a reported budget of $200 million.
